Where did your Newborn sleep?

What worked for you ladies? I'm sure it's different for everyone and every baby, but I'm really curious as I'm a FTM and I don't have anything for the baby yet except clothes. Some friends of mine said their baby didn't sleep in the crib for the first several months and slept in the rock N play; some say bassinet, etc. Every time I go to the store to check out options, there are always a lot of choices! My question is, what would be a practical option for the beginning months? Thanks!
