Is it normal for my 2 week old to only nurse for 10 minutes?

He falls asleep after 10 minutes and is impossible to wake up to eat more (I've tried everything) he can sleep for 2-3 hours and then eat again for approximately 10 minutes and that's what he's been doing. He has plenty of pee and poop diapers and seems content but I'm still worried if he's getting enough. Does this sound normal or worrisome?

If he has wet/poopy diapers and is happy then it is absolutely fine. Some babies eat fast - and consisting their stomach is tiny at this stage it's not a problem

It sounds like you've got yourself an efficient nurser! 👍 As babies get older they generally need less time to nurse because they get more efficient at it. If he's gaining weight & peeing/pooping, I would think all is good.

If he falls asleep try to stimulate him by rubbing his head or body to get him to keep sucking..that's what I do with my daughter

my baby is 3 weeks old & she's been doing this since birth. I've asked the pediatrician and an in home nurse that came to visit us about it and they both said sometimes babies just can eat faster than others! as long as baby is producing those diapers and is gaining weight there is no need to worry! :)

Omg! My 2 week old does that as well. I was a little concerned that he wasnt receiving the right amount of milk, so I called his Pediatrician. The Pedi told me that it doesn't matter how long or how many oz they drink during each feeding. He said that just like us adults, babies know how hungry they are and will eat enough to satisfy their hunger. There is absolutely no reason to worry unless you see your little one is not gaining weight.
