Heavy Bleeding (long post)
Sunday night may 1st I went to labor and delivery around 11pm due to contractions being 5 min apart. Once I get there they calmed down and was only at a 1 so we assumed false labor and was sent home after 3 hours. Monday may 2nd at 11:45 I had an appointment to see my Obgyn. He told me it sounds like she was trying to come. Told me if she hasn't come by my next appointment he would do a sweep. I get home and around 1:00 I start having contractions again. I decide to lay in the tub to help. After I started just laying on the couch. I didn't feel right, I'd been nauseous for a few days and just not feeling myself. About 3 I went to use the bathroom and noticed a lil pink. Thinking it was them checking my cervix the night before I didn't think anything of it. I get up to call my sister and the next thing I know I feel like I'm peeing myself. I run to the bathroom and its all blood. I'm literally gushing blood. I freak out and call the hospital. As I'm driving myself to the hospital I'm calling my husband and mom trying to have someone meet me there. I get to the hospital and they do an ultrasound to see where the bleeding is coming from. According to it the placenta was fine. They move me into the birthing room so I can naturally contract. By this point my contractions were 2 mins apart. Throughout the day they would get really close together then space out. By 12 midnight I decide to get a lil pain med through the iv to help me sleep. Didn't get much but it was something. By 7am the nurse came in and told me they wanted me to walk around for an hour. At this point I'm still bleeding heavily a 3cm and the contractions for close again. By 7:30 I couldn't walk anymore. They were 1 min apart and I could feel my pelvic bone popping. The doctor comes in at 8 and said I was a 5 and broke my water. He believed I wouldnt have her til 12 so I had plenty of time to decide on whether or not I wanted an epidural. Well by 9:20 she was ready. I literally felt the moment she moved to the birthing canal. I had the nurse get the doctor bc I had to push. The doctor came in and checked and I was a 10 and she was crowning. She had me push through a contraction and I hears the nurse say " she felt that one" baby was in distress. The entire time while we were in the hospital her heart rate was perfect. Now it was dropping and I had to push without contractions. I wasn't allowed any breaks, she needed to come out now. The cord was around her neck. At 9:36 she was out and they put her on me. I cried she was blue And wasn't crying. After the longest few seconds of my life she finally let out a wail and her color started to come. After a lil bit the doctor had me deliver the placenta. Apparently it did start to detach, and it was by the umbilical cord which was very skinny and empty. We are both very lucky. Annalee Marie Hughes was born May 3rd at 9:36 weighing 6pounds 14ounces.
