Mouth x-Ray at 35 weeks?

Question

I just got into the dentist for Monday at 12:45... But I'm 35 weeks and they want to do x-rays.

I'm having. Pretty bad tooth pain, so I guess my question is has anyone had mouth x-rays being THIS pregnant? I'll be 36 at the appointment but I'm really hesitant about letting them take x-rays.

I'm a dental hygienist and it's perfectly safe for a woman in her third trimester to have dental x-rays provided that she is wearing a lead apron. The apron will completely shield baby from any possibly scatter radiation. It's important to have the pain in your tooth addressed sooner than later because it can quickly develop into something more serious which you obviously want to avoid. Dentists need X-rays to make an informed and accurate diagnosis an to be able to plan needed treatment.

I was 19 weeks and 6 days when I got mine done. They will ask you to go to your OBGYN to get a release form so they can do the dental work. Mine said as long as they cover your belly and chest up to your chin using 2 of the vests you should be fine

Call and ask your doctor if it's ok, I went to the dentist but before 20 weeks.

You should be fine to have X-rays, especially if it's just one or two, just have them double sheild your baby.
