False positive?

I took two pregnancy tests today and the first was negative but the second was positive. I do have an appointment on Wednesday but wanted to take some home tests to see, however we thought it could also be a false positive. Are there any factors that can cause a false positive?

I figured they were pretty rare but on WebMD it said anywhere from 25-40% of early pregnancies are considered false positives but are actually very early miscarriages

False positives are very rare. Pregnancy tests detect a hormone called HCG, it's only produced when you're pregnant.
