Pcos and progesterone

Was given progesterone -pill form. To start a period. I have been on birth control but it stopped giving me a period. So my question is, does anyone else have pcos and been given progesterone pill to get a period? And if so did it help you ovulate? What type of effect did it have on your body, and crazy side effects?
