Weird family traditions or superstitious that you WONT be doing?

Ladies I just ran across someone mentioning something my in laws had wanted me to do when my daughter was born and it made me curious who else had to shut down or politely decline some things to family or ILs regarding their LOs?

When my daughter was born the in laws wanted us to shave her head and trim her eyelashes. .. I was a big nope on that one!

My was you can go out with the baby for 40days and you will have your period 40 days.. mine only last 5 days lolol.. oh baptize the baby at one month old or 3 weeks old.. cut or trim your baby hair .. um make sure they wear red and black little tiny beans braclet for the evil looks or evil eyes.. im over here like you guys are nuts.. this my 3rd baby..my husband family has been saying this since my 8 yr old daughter was born and my son who is 4 yrs old.. it usually finish is arguement .. im like you guys keep fighting with each other this my kids not yours.. my poor husband is just sit there look at one way and other ..  but he does tell his mom i have point and true that my kids are my mine and i dont believe half the things they say.. they get mad at me and then they act like victims.

God parents.. It's a Catholic tradition (which none of my SO family truly practices the religion & my SO & I are non-denominational Christains) (no offense against Catholicism) but they are super big on first communion, baptism, god parents etc & it's just something we have no interest in doing & they're all pretty upset with us. But honestly if we we're to pick someone it wouldn't be either of our families. He is Hispanic & it's a large part of their culture, just something they are expected to do & im not sure how it is with other families but basically the first one to ask, you pick & so as soon as we found out his cousin asked if she could be the God mother & we were just speechless because we hardly talk besides thanksgiving & Christmas & him & his cousins don't really get along.

We're going to do baby dedication at our church & when she is old enough she can decide when it's the right time for her to become baptized.

The only tradition in our family has went on for over 5 generations is the mother stays overnight for a week so while the daughter is exhausted and recovering they can have a full nights sleep.

Basically my mother would come up mine at 10pm go straight to bed and be up and gone by 8am, but my partner said he did not want this to happen which I was hurt over and then he said, if the baby woke during the night he would push my mother out of the way and he would take care of our baby 😡 this is the closest I have ever came to leaving him!

For one insulting my mother and the thought that he found this acceptable to say, while I am heavily pregnant/hormonal .... Well he is lucky he didn't walk away with a disfigurement oh and while he was feeling brave he followed with he feels my mother being in the labouring room would be uncomfortable (in my area of the U.K., every girl has their mother with them) I told him straight that she will be there and he has no say in this!

My mom and I are going to be smudging before baby comes (my maternal family is First Nations) but I won't be doing some of the other things that my culture sometimes does - like giving baby a cedar bath or placing a small stick nearby the sleeping baby so they can defend themselves against malevolent spirits.

I'm not burying my placenta, though we might plant a tree in her honor in our back yard. :) my mom didn't bury her placenta either but my great grandma was all about this and told all of us grandchildren it was something we should do

Not naming baby until 2 weeks after birth in an 'outdooring ceremony' because baby is not considered human in those 2 weeks 😑 Basically giving the spirits time to take baby back in case that was the plan. 😑 Like seriously? Smh

When shaving of the hair works better on boys for their hair to grow even my mom shaved my daughters hair and her hair grew back really weird she's now six and till this day her hair grown uneven and about the eyelashes never heard of that but I wouldn't do it
