When HE doesn't want kids, EVER?

Question

I've been with my boyfriend now for 6 years and we've had the chat about children several times. He has a very negative outlook on the future and says that he never wants to have kids, can never see himself as a dad or see children in is future, ever.

As a young girl all I ever wanted was to be a mum, but I must admit as I'm getting older it is something that is falling behind in my priories in life.
We're only 21 so we still have a while to decide and have children. But I have always kind of in the back of my head thought oh he'll change his mind but even with the topic of grandchildren came bought up from his mum he told her not to be expecting any from him, which she of course tried convincing him to change his mind but he was set on the big NO.
He has said to me before that he doesn't want to hold me back from having children, and I should consider leaving him because he doesn't want me to miss out on being a mum...

Anyway have any of you girls had this issue and what was the result?

There is no way in hell I would ever trick him in having kids or deliberately "accidentally" fall pregnant, as I would want it to be an exciting moment not deceitful. 
Also, would you end a relationship because of the idea of never having kids? 
I am a little terrified that I will stay with him for another 10 years and get Into my 30s and be wanting children and it ruin our relationship that far in.

He is only 21 I don't think you can take his word 100% at this time. A lot of people at 21 say they will never have kids. But when they hit there 30's they change there mind. If you love him and not ready to settle down yet I wouldn't worry to much.

I think that some people can be content without children. But, I think that's much harder if you do want children. That may have ebbed for now, but I'm not sure that want will ever go away completely. Maybe have a frank conversation and compromise on a number if you really love him? If you only want one, maybe tell him that it doesn't need it to be soon, but you would like to have one baby in several years. It's just a thought, but I've heard that urge gets much stronger as you age.

My Gran didn't want kids, but my Grandad did. He told her it was either kids or divorce. They stayed together and adopted my mom and uncle. ^.^

Total deal breaker for me. If my ex husband had been honest about his not wanting to have kids up front I would never have married him (split up for a ton of reasons not just that)  My husband now one of the first things I asked him was did he want kids and how many. I wasn't about to waste more time on someone who did not share the same family goals I have.

One of my cousins is married to a man who doesn't want & never has wanted kids. He has never changed his mind. Now she's in the tough position of wanting kids, badly, but won't get to have any.  So...maybe someday your man will change his mind and maybe not.

I would definitely wait, at least a little while longer before calling things quits. Maybe tell him at 25-27 y'all will take a serious look at possibly having kids. If he is still absolutely insistent that he doesn't want any, then you would have to decide then if leaving him is the best answer. Having or not having kids is definitely a make or break thing unfortunately. It is life changing, and can cause total resentment if someone doesn't want kids and the other does. But you've got several more years before you would need to make that harsh decision.

My husband was the same way. For many years. As we got into our mid 20s he started considering it. And we had our daughter in our late 20s. I would agree with having a frank discussion about the possibility of it in the future and see where it goes from there.
