Do you think it is okay for 4.5 month old baby to cry it out for 5-10 min?

My baby is 21 weeks and she started crying every time I put her down? Today I let her cry out for 5 min and she fell asleep. We will see how the night goes. I think she is experiencing a regression/growth spur of some sort. Any recommendations?

I have a hard time w the CIO method but sometimes there is just nothing I can do and he needs to cry. I don't let it go long because I literally feel like my chest is caving in but sometimes he just needs to clear it out himself.

There's a difference between fussy cries, and stress cries. If your baby is stress crying, like crying for mom, they're not learning self soothing. They're just too young. They're giving up.

If they're fussing and falling asleep, I'd leave it. I let my son fuss, but not cry. Once he starts getting obviously upset, I'll go to him. He needs to know that mom will always come.

Yes. It's fine. They learn to self soothe. Sometimes my baby cries a few minutes at night and then settled himself. I do not believe for a minute that he thinks I've abandoned him or whatever.

I, personally, don't use the CIO method. Now, my son will sometimes fuss for a few minutes when I lay him down for a nap or bedtime and then fall asleep almost instantly, but if he starts actually crying I immediately go in and scoop him up. I want him to know that Mommy is here whenever he needs me. I physically can't let myself sit there and listen to him cry, knowing that all he wants is just a little bit more Mommy snuggles before he falls asleep.

I don't like it much but I let my baby cry it at bed time but I will go put his paci in his mouth every ten mins if he's still crying and I rub his face lol spoiled

My doctor says it's okay for about 10 minutes for them to cry it out but I can tell the difference in my babies screams, as all mom's can lol so if I feel that she is more distressed then I'll go get her and rock her for a little to get her to calm down. Then put her back in the crib and pat her.
