😂Folic Acid- Autism?

I am in no way agreeing to this. I saw this statement on the news this morning and changed it asap. They are making everything out to be the cause of Autism and it's honestly pissing me off! I'm not sure if I should let it... But REALLY?!? Yes, let's take away one of the most important things a baby needs in the womb because we believe it's causing "autism." My husband is autistic. My daughter could or couldn't come out autistic. THAT DOES NOT MEAN IM NOT GOING TO LOVE HER. She is my life! Just like the vaccinations? Some of them are somehow the cause of autism. Ignorance... What do you ladies think? 😒

I did not take folic acid and have a son with Autism...in my circle of friends we have a joke.."AND TODAY'S CAUSE OF AUTISM IS...BREATHING!!!" lol

My daughters autistic and idc what caused it she is awesome and wouldn't change her for the world but so far I don't buy any of the bs and it pisses me off when people get on a roll over lack of knowledge saying such bs causes it. I believe it's genetic as my mom is autistic and I believe I am mildly autistic and shocker my daughter is diagnosed autistic. I'm going to stay believing it's genetic. I don't believe the garbage out there I will still vaccinate my children. N get them folic acid n everything else they need to have the best shot at life.

That study was published within the last couple day and HAS NOT BEEN PEER REVIEWED.

They should never have published it. It could scare women away from their prenatals.

It's a faulty study, small too- only 1300 pairs of moms from one area.

It's not something to even consider until for research is done. Properly.

I think you hit the nail on the head. There are 2 issues 1) what does it matter if someone is autistic 2) can we stop pointing the finger at things with NO EVIDENCE. Especially things that are beneficial to our health

I would love to know the scientific data behind this. Folic acid is a catalyst in the reproduction of cells which is crucial in the development of a fetus. Without it it leads to neurological and mid-line defects such as a cleft palet, spina bifida, etc. I wonder how increasing cellular reproduction leads to autism.

That's crazy! Folic acid is so important during pregnancy, and now they're going to have a bunch of crazy nature moms out there freaking out about it. Autism is genetic!! Folic acid isn't going to cause autism, vaccines don't cause autism, nothing but genetics does

I think the headline in the paper today linking folic acid to autism are rather sensational (I'm guessing intentionally so) and if you read the contents of the study it's talking about the headline is at best poor reporting and incredibly irresponsible.

Folic acid is the synthetic version of Folate.  Although I haven't seen the article maybe they are assuming that taking the synthetic versus the generic is more harmful.  They do sell folate however folic acid is found in prenatal pills and almost everything we eat so if that is what they are insinuating then I assume that everything we eat is the cause.
