Crushed birth control for hair growth?

Anyone tried this?

For years, many women have claimed that birth control pills lead to faster hair growth. Some studies have also supported this claim. While we do not recommend consuming these pills only to stimulate hair growth, you can always crush 5-6 pills and mix them in your regular shampoo. This will help to grow your hair faster and will considerably increase its volume.

I haven't done this and I had never heard about this until yesterday. I have a Puerto Rican friend that said she did this in Puerto Rico when she was young and it worked amazing. She wondered why more women here didn't do it. I told her that it sounded super crazy and I was gonna google it. The paragraph above was taken from a random article off google. I can't believe it's true either! 
I don't need it for my hair I use coconut oil and take my daily vitamins. My hair is naturally thick and full. Now 5years after cutting it super short, I went from a cute chin length angled bob to hair down to my butt. 
 
But this post is to see if anyone on here had also tried the BC shampoo technique

If you want your hair to grow faster it's better to take vitamins and supplements such as biotin, so that you can promote healthy growth from the inside. Also mane and tail is very gimicky... Dried my hair out bad and didn't notice and growth.

Never heard of it. I know a side effect on most BC is hair loss, I'd be scared to put it in my shampoo 😁

Certain herbs also help with hair growth, like nettle. As does coconut oil, omegas, Vitamins and protein. Certain essential oils also help like Rosemary

I don't think a doctor would prescribe birth control so you can use it on your hair.

Instead of that go buy mane and tail its horse shampoo but its sold at walmart or the dollar store in the shampoo aisle or go get coconut oil

Using certain shampoo doesn't make your hair grow faster... The right kind can help prevent breaks but that's it. If you want your hair to grow better/faster you should focus on taking vitamins and consuming protein.

I've just stopped using heat on my hair all together and stopped dying it and trimmed it every 8 weeks and I take prenatals. and it's grown 4 inches 
I don't see how this would work.

I just use horse shampoo and conditioner. My hair grows so much faster with that vs without using it.
