How will I know what birth control is right for me? SHARE YOUR STORIES!

I'm looking into birth control for the first time, seriously. I'm 21 & disabled so finding an OBGYN to work with my body has been a task, this wasn't a big deal because I was never really sexually active until this point & now I'm looking into birth control. I'm thinking the implant may be best for me, but how do I know what birth control will be best for me? I'm also nervous about weight gain & the insertion process. I also have pretty bad periods. Is finding the right birth control for you a bit of a trail & error process? How do I go about not just being shoved on the pill? Help a newb out. 😅

At first I tried the pill but I kept forgetting to take it everyday smh.
After it was the nuvaring but since I like my nails long it was hard for me to grip and pull it out lol . Putting it in was easy . 
So now, I have the patch. I love it .
I have friends who gained weight on the shot and she experienced longer periods . Too long!
The same thing with the implant .

I never heard anything good about he depo so that was a automatic no for me. I knew a few girls who got the implant and hated it. They bled more than they didn't so I ruled that one out... Plus I don't think I could handle having it put in 🙈 I didn't really give much thought to the Nuva ring, for no apparent reason. I decided to go with the pill. I have very regular periods and I wanted to keep it that way. I wanted as little side effects as possible. So I got on a very low hormone dose of Portia 28. I had nausea the first month by after that it went away. I did notice an increase in appetite but I just kept up with my healthy eating and didn't gain weight. I've been happy with my choice!
