The pill or the rod??

So I'm debating wether or not to get the rod or just go on the pill, both have different ups and downs and I've asked my friend who's had them both done and has said that the rod is better but my mum disagrees but she's only been on the pill and think the rod will be painful but still says its up to me to choose, it's my first time going on brith control and I'm not sexual active but me and boyfriend have been thinking about it and I just want to be safe for if it does happen, witch one is better?
