Could it be teething?

My twins are now 8 and a half months, a couple of months ago they started sleeping really well, maybe 10-12 hours a night. The last few weeks they have been awful! Waking up for a bottle every 3-4 hours and not going back to sleep in the night, iv had to bring them downstairs and rock them in the bouncers. They still haven't got a tooth, could this be teething? Iv felt their gums but still no sign! Has anyone experienced this with their babies and did they start sleeping better after they had their first tooth? I'm praying for that first tooth to come through lol
