Who can be in the room

Did anyone not have their mothers in the birthing room and regret it?

Answer

Nope. I love my mom but I really wasn't there when I was giving birth. Very primal me was and she was very in the moment and didn't care about anything but riding the waves and getting the baby out. I did have an amazing supportive husband, a doula, a nurse and a midwife. That was plenty for me. Mom and dad came and saw us a few hours after the birth when we got home.

Only my husband and doula. We're Hypnobirthing so I don't want any unwarranted advice from either mom. There's also specific language involved in hypnobirthing. I want the area to be free of "push" "contraction" "pain". It's easier just to have them come after. Plus the room is fairly small at the hospital and we're trying to squeeze in a birthing tub.

I only had my husband. I'm really close to my mom but I think she would have just annoyed me. With all the rest of my babies it'll only be my husband. My sister said that my mom and I can both be in there when she has her babies tho.

If you don't want to tell them yourself you can ask the nurses to tell them. They usually don't mind at all. Some parents can be over baring and they are used to it lol it was just my husband in the room. He took a few pictures and a nurse was nice enough to take a picture of him when he cut the cord. After my baby was out and they were cleaning her my mom and mil were allowed in the room (per my request) as all the Dr was doing was cleaning me up at that time. The mothers were also just taking first pictures of the baby. And the room was big enough that they weren't right next to my bed to see baby. Just something to think about as well. 😊

Both my boys was just my husband and i. But with this one my mom and my mother in law will be there. Kinda weird and different but its our last baby and I want it to be special for us and our mothers.

We are having only us and a birth photographer in the room.  We just told the family that we don't want anyone there till after baby, also our hospital has a mandatory 2 hour wait before visitors so we won't even call till after she is born.

I only want to have my husband in when I'm actually pushing. My mom can be in while I'm in labor though.
