SHOULD BABY HAVE FATHER LAST NAME ?

Me & my partner have been together on and off for about four years. We are a couple weeks away from having our first baby together. We aren't married nor engaged! I feel that the baby should have my ( the mom's ) last name.What do you think? Comments..

You carry the child for 9 months. It's your choice. If he doesn't like it then I would tell him when you guys do get married that you'll pay to have the baby's last name changed too.

I gave my 1st daughter my last name because he wasn't around and I knew he wouldn't be. My son has his daddy's last name and he adopted my daughter @ 1.5 years old so she has his last name as well. My husband has since passed away several years now. 
My current boyfriend and I have been together for almost 3 years and I am 24.6 weeks along. I plan on giving her his last name. I know he won't go anywhere even if we do split up. He loves my kids now and loves his unborn daughter just as much. We separated briefly in November and he called me 24/7 checking on the kids and asking to speak with them and then showed up at my house and banged on my door because I didn't answer the phone and he wanted to see the kids. So I know he won't drop his biological daughter of he won't drop his step kids. 
Sometimes you just get a good or uneasy feeling about someone. So use your judgement on this one. If you feel he won't be there 100% for the baby then give it your last name. If you fee he'll be there no matter what together or not then I don't see anything wrong with giving it his last name. Choice is ultimately up to you.

My daughters father and I were never engaged or married, nor did I ever see myself marrying him (sadly). She has my last name. If things are to change for you 2 in the future you can always have baby's name changed. But I definitely don't think it's necessary to give a baby the fathers last name. You are the one carrying that child after all!

I think if you guys are together then the baby should have his name.. The way I see it is my boyfriend and baby will have the same last name and when we get married in a few years I'll finally have the same last name as the two of them and it'll be extra special I think.

I wouldn't even hesitate to give my baby my last name. You'll always be there for that child. My mom gave us our fathers last name who she was married to. When he left when I was like 7, she changed our names to her maiden name. I loved it. Felt more of a family. Questions may come up, but who cares. It's a quick answer. No big deal. I say do it.

my boyfriend was given his dad's name at birth, but his dad was a deadbeat and abusive and left when he was a baby. bf ended up changing his last name himself as an adult, to his mom's maiden name.

A friend of mine went thru this with her first child , she gave her , her last name but  , later on when she started growing so did the questions !!! Why all my friends have their dads last name expect for me ... Think of your child first . If the dad is in your life it's fair for the baby to have his last name
