How long should I wait to announce to first time grandparents?

I have my first appointment this Wednesday. My fiancé is 31 and this will be his first child as well as his mothers first grandchild. So I know she is eagerly waiting for this life event. So of course, I am eager to tell her. Please keep in mind this is baby #2 for me.

Thanks everyone! I know this is something a lot of people ask. But it's really helping out a lot! Hopefully I get good news at my appointment & that all goes well for you guys! I'm currently in college. I'm not graduating this semester... But! I plan to ask everyone out to dinner and using college graduation as an excuse to get together. While we are out and waiting on our food, I plan to bust out the news! Maybe framed like a certificate, but when they actually read it... It will reveal that I'm expecting! It will be so awesome because no one will expect it! How did you guys reveal that you were expecting to everyone?

I told inlaws and my parents before anyone else. I heard the heartbeat at 6w3d. I have another appointment next week at 10w6d as long as the heartbeat is strong we'll announce on Facebook.

I told my mom at 4 weeks. This would be her first. I told her this early because I was so excited and because she's a nurse and I could go to her any time I had a concern. It really saved me when I started spotting at 6 weeks and had an emotional breakdown.
