Question

If you were a part of the LGBT community and your entire family was homophobic,hateful, and disrespectful and abusive...would you take them out of your life? (Including parents)

I am part of the LGBT community. Fortunately my family and my wife's family are totally supportive but if they weren't and it effected our lives directly than yes I'd probably cut them off. But if they just didn't agree with my life I wouldn't cut them off as long as they weren't disrespect and nasty.

I'm not a member, but do have a fair number of friends across the spectrum.
From what I've seen if their families don't support them the best thing to do is for them to get out, and if individual family members accept the LGBT person, nurture those relationships.  But if it's only ever negative it's not worth it.

I wouldn't because ppl don't have to have the same beliefs. .my grandmother was the sweetest person I knew but she was somewhat prejudice not that she meant any harm she was just brought up that way she was born in 1914 when times were different but I did marry a black man and it was my choice to make not hers but o still love her dearly

If they didn't cause any problems with my life choices then No. But of they made it their business to ruin every opportunity for me to be me then I would seriously consider it.

LGBTQ member. I remember my first Girlfriend. My mother had a fit. My dad was livid and didn't talk to me for a while. I never cut them off. My mother wasn't disrespectful, she just didn't understand nor agree. Kept telling me she raised me to be a Christian girl. My grandparents too. My dad was just being my dad. Acting like a brat. Anytime he has an attitude he gives the cold shoulder. I didn't cut them off. My dad is homophobic but once he learned about me, his baby girl, he tried to forbid it. I explained it wasn't something to forbid. It is what it is. He eventually came around. He didn't like the situation much but he grew to respect my girlfriends as people in involved with. One of my exes even lived with us. her and my dad still talk til this day. They occasionally check up on each other. She was the only one he ever called his daughter. They formed a relationship mainly because she was the one that taught me not to care what others think of you. She didn't care how my dad felt about her. At all and would still talk to him and when he didn't, she understood and still was great to me. He respected that a lot. So did I.
