"More fertile" after d&c?

Question

I sadly had my d&c on tuesday. We want to TTC as quickly as possible. I was told to wait until after 1st period to try again (for dating purposes). But theres so many stories out there about becoming pregnant very soon after d&c because we are more fertile...is this true?

It's true for me.  I had a D&C in February had my period in March got pregnant in April. Unfortunately lost that baby at 6 weeks also. But I found it to be true

I'm soo sorry for your loss. I just had a D&E yesterday and when I asked my doctor he said we could try as soon as we felt comfortable. He said medically it's not been proven but he's had a ton of patients get pregnant very soon after a D&C or D&E because a lot of them weren't trying right after and thought they'd have to have a period first to ovulate. He said right now ovulation and your period are working together so you can ovulate within a week after the D&E/D&C. He said your body thinks it's delivered and it's all over the place so it starts to release eggs and sometimes very soon. He's had patients get pregnant 2 weeks later and go onto have a healthy pregnancy and baby. I'm crossing my fingers that's the case with both of us and my SO and I are gonna start soon after the 10 day wait. He also told me to make sure I get a negative hpt so I didn't get false hope. But did say the D&E/C will make it so the HGC will leave my system a lot quicker then if you naturally miscarried. My heart goes out to you & wishing you all the luck for the next LO! 😊

True for us, too! We were taking all kinds of fertility meds before to ttc. When we went in for our d&c, doc said wait a cycle. We got pregnant right after! In 4.5 years, we never got a sticky pregnancy. Now I'm 18 weeks! And we weren't even pushing it. Doc said we were cleared to try on our own, but he wanted us to wait 3 cycles for fertility treatments. We had tried so long, we didn't expect it to actually work so fast.

Very true for me. I had my d&c in December, we avoided getting pregnant for 3 months, and as soon as we were ready again, I got pregnant. I hear it's actually better to get pregnant within six months of a miscarriage or d&c because you are more fertile. Good luck and I'm so sorry for your loss.

I had my d&c in December and started ttc in February.... Still waiting for my next bfp. Guess I'm not one of those "more fertile" ones.
