Is this normal?

My boyfriend and I were having sex yesterday but we stopped as soon as we heard his parents, then like an hour after he wanted to try to fuck me again but it hurt. like crazy? he tried to finger me and that hurt too.. It just wasn't working out and he couldn't slide in because I wasn't wet enough. this happens every time we stop and we try to start over an hour after.  Does it take some time for down there to recover or something?
