How badly did it hurt for you when you gave birth? What are some ways to get through the pain?

It's painful but honestly once it's done you forget all about the pain

It's painful, really painful. But as soon as you deliver, it's like a huge relief and the pain stops. You can try a warm bath or shower to help with pain, or massage, breathing, etc. but the biggest thing I think is not "fighting" the pain. Don't panic. It's going to hurt, but it's not going to last forever. Count through it. Know that it's going to go away. That helped me when I had my third baby and they stopped my epidural.

Ive done both csection and natural. With the csection i was on my feet fast next day and healed up quick. I felt very nauseous after and couldnt eat for two days. Worse was wanting to use bathroom as i only had my wound glued i was peteified it would burst open. The worse thing was also the catheter thats nasty i wont lie. But not excruiating after just bit sore and more uncomfortable then anything. Natural was no where near as bad as i anticipated, it just feels like your on fire down there needing a big number 2 sorry only way i can describe it. The pain was between bearable and unbearable at times. I healed way faster and wasnt actually as sore after naturally. Either way its not pleasant and painful just depends on each persons pain tolerance level.

Can't tell you how bad it is but my 3 are normal pain free birth .My down below been cut and tear 3 time but when I see that little face it goes.i don't care anymore what just happens.my advice is keep clam and think it will pass quick .I know it hard and know easy way to go back and try to get on with it .you know your self and you can ask for pain relief to help .my no time they are so quick to pop out :) all the best x

Bullshit on the "you forget the pain". That's all I heard from anyone and it didn't hold true for me. I was stuck at 3cm for 13 hours with me epidural and contractions every 2-3 min lasting 30-35 seconds the whole 13 hours without relief or pain meds, despite asking. They said they couldn't do the epidural with "failure to progress". Finally after 13 hours they gave me pitocin to get things moving and the epidural. I'd heard bad things about pitocin, but when you get it and the epidural at the same time it was fine.epidural was great to get from 3-10 cm. then 3 hours of pushing with his head stuck in the birth canal felt like it was going to rip me in two, even with the pain meds. I was so exhausted by the end, and had caught an infection with a temp of 103 while pushing, that I missed seeing daddy hold him the first time, and all I could think was "I will never do this again". Fo a week after the birth I had PTSD like symptoms and couldn't sleep. Even being awake for 4 days straight I couldn't sleep when I got the chance. Never once have I seen a post that said something like I experienced. I would have liked to know it could go like this. Sorry to be a downer but I felt my labor was horrific. I absolutely love my little guy, but that doesn't erase the pain.

It is painful depends what type of contraction you get I had back contractions and that was horrendous I was in labour 33 hour with that  and you sort of get a feeling of burning down there when baby comes out but in all honesty it was not bad when you get that little bundle of joy. It can't be that bad I'm pregnant with my second lol. It's the after birth I'm not keen on took me ages to heal. Xxx

Oh man it hurt. People say contractions are like period cramps on steroids but it wasn't like that for me. I tried a lot of things to cope with the pain but nothing helped at all. Tried showers, hubs gave me massages, tried tons of positions but I couldn't take it. I got an epidural at 5 cm which ended up wearing off by the time I delivered. I honestly thought the contractions were worse than the pain of delivery. I would cry in between contractions and got no rest.  I know I sound like everybody else when I say you forget about it but you honestly do. I felt a little traumatized for maybe 12 hours after but after that I forgot all about the pain. Recovery wasn't  nearly as bad as I thought it would be. I had a 1st degree tear and needed two stitches. Was mostly pain free by 4-5 days pp. I took Motrin for the soreness which helped a lot so I could enjoy my LO :)
