Bowel movements after episiotomy

Any advice on bowel movements after having a 4th degree episiotomy? I'm 3 days PP and terrified of having a bowel movement due to stitches. I can feel that I need to have one and anytime I try to sit and go it hurts really badly. I know best thing is to not strain but I guess I'm more afraid of ripping a stitch.
