Sleeping problems

Ashley
My son is only 1.5 weeks old, from day one he only sleeps at night if he's being held. During the day I can lay him in his bassinet or swing but at night he just cries. Anyone have advice on how to get him used to sleeping alone at night?

My daughter slept with my husband and I at night until a little before 3 months when we transitioned her to her crib. I just slowly transitioned her to sleeping alone & used blankets to cradle her. My daughter hated swaddling--I know they don't recommend blankets, but my daughter was able to kick blankets down & remove them from her face, so I felt comfortable. I would lay it over her & then roll the edges in toward her body to create a little nest.

Warm Water bottle wrapped in one of your worn shirts with a clock ticking or water sloshing or white noise music playing

Your baby is still getting used to life outside the womb. Think about it - he spent 9 months inside of you and all of a sudden he has to sleep by himself... Which is why babies love to be held :) esp the first few months. Swaddling helps or a noise machine  can help. Honestly sometimes it just takes time

Could be a light issue. Try a night light and see if that helps. Or maybe a box/standing fan that makes a good amount of noise
