Ovulation explained please

Can someone explain something to me please...say if you got ovulation pain and at the same time released an egg and then inseminated at that same time, would you still have a chance in getting pregnant. People say the egg lasts 12-24 hours, is that once released or before? Basically i got ovulation pain and a +opk that day and night before but only inseminated once i was getting the ovulation pain as couldnt any sooner. Just trying to work out if id still have a chance this month.
