Icky question about retaining semen inside

How long can semen stay in you for?
(not sperm - I get the difference)
I'm pretty certain today's my ovulation day. Got lots of ewcm tonight. I don't check my cervix though.
Anyway we BDd his morning and two entire hours later all his semen came out in quite a gush. I had a panty liner on, but forget that! My underwear was soaked and I had wet inner thighs. It's never happened to me before.
Two hours seems like ages, though I did slightly prop my hips/ bum for 10 minutes after sex. Would that be normal if I'm at peak fertility, and my cervix is open?
I want to understand if I'm getting my fertile days right for BDing. I think I have slight ovary twinges / I'm hoping it's ovulation.
Thoughts? Experiences? Please share.
** To clarify: my query is why it is was up there so long, 2 hours. Normally it's all out in 20-30 minutes.
