Sleep tips when he's gone

Jessica
My fiance drives truck so he's gone all week long and only home on the weekends. I have a really hard type getting any substantial amount of sleep when he's not there. I usually sleep cuddled with his pillow but it only smells like him for a day or two at most. I would rather not take any meds to help me sleep because we are TTC. Does anyone have any other tips that might help?

I used to steal my SOs shirts after he wore them all day because we were long distance and I missed him. They would smell like him for a few days or longer if I didn't wear them to bed. Just have him leave a couple and you should be good to go until he gets back.

Thanks for the tips everyone. I think my main problem is I work third shift and sleep during the day so when I'm home trying to sleep is when the dogs are awake since they sleep all night in the kennels when I'm at work, so it's their play and potty time. It doesn't help that it's getting hot out now and I get too hot to sleep but can't open a window because of all the noises outside. I think I'll just have to work on it. It's been months so far. There will be days that I can go on stretches where I sleep off and on all day and some stretches where I don't get more than a couple hours of sleep.

Take a bath with lavender salt & same tea, will relax your mind & body :)

Drink a warm glass of milk with some honey added to it right when you go to bed. Also try switching to night mode if you have an iphone (to cut out the blue light from phone). Try the breathing technique for sleep too..  Hope it helps

My fiance is a firefighter, so he's gone at least four nights a week. Finally after two and a half years I've learned how to sleep well without him. I have a pillow on each side of me and create a cocoon basically. It helps that I've got two dogs to lay on both sides of me. As far as a smelly pillow, we used to swap pillows when he came home every 3rd day, but it seemed like it was just making things harder. You have to give it time and find something that works for you. Also, try some yogi sleepy time tea. Or melatonin. Those worked for me when I couldn't sleep working weird night shifts.

You could get a body pillow and spray it with his body spray every day or every other day and cuddle up to it
