PCOS ladies, HELP!

I was diagnosed with PCOS and put in Metforming 1000 mg/day for 6 weeks now. I was able to loose about 4 lbs. but that's all so far. I still haven't ovulated on my own. How long does it take to get the full effects of Metformin? Should I call my doc and ask to bump my dose to 1500 mg/day? Any advice is Greatly appreciated!
