Switch Deodorant during pregnancy?

I would not recommend the Tom's brand though!  I bought some when I was around 4 months along. I used it once, and within 2 minutes of putting it on, I had to wipe it off because it was burning so much! It caused actual like, chemical burns on my armpits! The skin completely peeled off and had to be regrown. I went through 4 weeks of absolute misery before it finally healed.  Couldn't wear any deodorant, because everything burnt so bad, all I could muster was medicated baby powder. Not to mention, every time I put my arms down, I was literally in tears from the pain. Now I use piper wai. It's all natural and hasn't caused me any problems yet!

I switched to natural about a year before TTC simply because I read about how the excess of aluminum in your system from antiperspirant isn't good. You definitely sweat more at the beginning because the longer you use antiperspirant, the more your body's sweat glands over produce to make up for the lack of sweating (just further proof that your body knows what it's doing and we shouldn't be using all of this artificial stuff to try and change our bodies). However, the longer you go without antiperspirant the more your body regulates itself. I have been using only deodorant (no antiperspirant) for about two years now and hardly sweat or get BO at all anymore. I only need to shower every couple days. I love this one 
But I know there are other more natural on the market if you prefer 😉

I have been making my own deodorant for about a year now. I found the recipe on wellnessmama.com. The key to natural deodorant is that you need to detox your pits before you begin using it (to avoid the burning people are talking about). You basically just apply a clay mask ( you can make your own but I used one I already had for my face). This pulls out the nasty chemicals from your standard anti-perspirant.

I use Sugar & Spice.  I sweat like a man and it's the only one that works for me!  It's a local Canadian company, but they do sell online. The best scent in my opinion is Pink Sugar (which always seems to sell out first :(  ).
