Need vet advice-- one more time
Today is the day 😞. I found a vet that doesn't charge $300+ for euthanasia services. However, they gave me the option of no sedation, or sedation before. They said the euthanasia part just stops the heart. Online some places say it isn't needed unless the pet is anxious, other places are saying they witnessed their dog struggle as the heart stopped because they didn't do sedation first. I don't know what to believe. I'm definitely going to get sedation first (it's still way cheaper than other vets around here) because I don't want to risk ANY pain or any struggle. WE are all he has known, and I know he has the *gentle giant* shy personality of the litter, so he will know something is going on 😔. I cannot bring myself to be there when it happens. Ever since my best friend died during labor I am just so weak when it comes to death or witnessing it. My dad will be with us, so I'm not sure if he will go back (he is the quiet, bottled up type) with him. Do you think sedation is best? I think it is, but I'm not a vet. Just something about him having an injection to stop his heart seems painful to me... But I just need reassurance I guess? Please let me know. We will be leaving soon.Â
