iPhone experts?

I know it has nothing to do with love&sex but this is my favorite group and I'll just ask here sorry. I have an iPhone 6s Plus and sometimes it will ring like I got a new email but when I open it there is like an email from 2 or 3 hours ago. Why would it alert me then? I don't understand

That happened to me all the time. Even on older iPhones. And it does it to my husbands as well. I disconnected my email because of that, and also cause even when I deleted them they would come back as a new email. Just shitty programming Id say.

It's because you have it set to fetch new data every so often. Go to settings > mail > fetch new data, then set "Push" to off and scroll down and set "Fetch" to "manually". Now it will only get new emails when you refresh it and you won't get random notifications throughout the day for old emails.
