Why is adoption so expensive??

I recently researched the option of adopting a child since my partner and I experienced fertility issues. We make a good salary, own our own home and have a loving, stable relationship. We love children and just want to complete our family.

From my research I found that the costs associated with adopting a child run anywhere between $35,000 and $42,000.  How can adoption be only for the rich?  I also wonder why any adoption agency would want new parents to spend that kind of money before welcoming a new child into their home. Makes no sense. Infuriating.

Keep researching. I'm not sure where you are from but some agencies in Indiana are as low as $10,000. Plus there is a tax credit for up to $13,000. I was going to go the adoption route but have decided to try iui with donor sperm first.

Contact your local welfare office. And ask them about going through the foster system. I know that route is a lot cheaper in TX.

Any states have adoption grants you can request  that cover most if not all of the adoption and legal fees. You may be required to pay for any doctor visits and/or medical testing prior to adoption.... Worth a look.
