Odd period symptoms???

I've had my period since I was 12 (currently 19) and every week before my period I have symptoms that are akin to having a cold. Horribly sore throat, sneezing, feeling achy, being miserable. Is this something that others have experienced regularly? Could this be something to talk to a doctor about?

I guess it would also be helpful to note that my periods are around 7 days long even with birth control, which I've been on for over a year. Also cramps have always been so bad that no safe amount of ibuprofen or Tylenol help much.
