When I was tested I had to goto a clinic who did the testing. This was after the interview before they could make an offer of employment.

The ones I've taken were with job offers that were contingent on passing a drug test, so I took the test after getting a job offer and before starting. My current job didn't require a drug test at all.

Most of the places I've worked do it during the interview if you get hired and they have the tests on hand. It's always best to stay clean beforehand. Better safe than sorry
