Best form of birth control that last??

Having a baby in one day and I'm looking to get on birth control... It's been years since I've had any. So, what would you ladies suggest & why? Also, any side effects that I should know about before deciding?

Mirena!!! I've had 3 now over the last 10 years. Yes they typically last 5 years but I had surgery 2 years in and they accidentally moved my iud so I had to have it replaced.. I'm currently TTC and I miss my mirena.. my periods were less painful and super light.

I used the paraguard IUD after my first. Safe while breastfeeding. Easy. Set it and forget it. If/when you want to conceive again, you simply have it taken out. I kept mine about three years.

I liked my paragard IUD. I got it 6 weeks after giving birth. It's nonhormonal so you really don't get the "side effects". Some people say it gives them heavier periods and more severe cramps. I did not experience this. My periods were 4 days like always and I only got cramps the day I was due to start and they stopped the same day. It's very effective at preventing pregnancy, about equal to tubal ligation and it can be left in for up to 10 years! I kept mine in for about 2 years and removed it when we decided to start TTC. And now we have our second on the way! I very likely will get the paragard again.

Have them out in an IUD while you're in the hospital to deliver, they can do it right away. I've heard good things about Mirena

I got the implant over 2 weeks ago and I love it. My doctor said I should start spotting the next day but I havent. I have not gotten a single side effect like other girls have. I was nervous about having it after reading all the nightmares people had but I love it, I guess I am just that few lucky girls that don't have issues
