How do you measure breast milk during a feeding?

How do you measure how much the baby has had while breastfeeding? Like a newborn should only have this many ounces, how do you know how many the baby drank?

Baby will let you know if they are getting enough just let them nurse till they want to stop

It's impossible to measure the amount of ounces, but my doctor told me they "measure" the amount by duration. So they had me record how long my son breastfed at each sitting and to make sure he was having at least 6-8 wet diapers a day.

It doesn't matter, but if you really want to know you can weigh baby before and after a feeding to see how much they ate. But breastfed babies don't eat more ounces as the months go by, so a one month and a five month baby would probably be eating about the same amount of breastmilk.

You dont, really. You count the pee diapers to make sure theyre getting enough. They get enough, dont worry. :)
I breastfed my daughter exclusively for the first year, but she took breast till 2 1/2.

There really isn't a way to measure it... the baby usually will nurse til it's full. It may take a while cuz they're just learning to nurse..so expect long feedings for the first month. 
Once baby gets the hang of it, feedings get shorter :)

As long as baby is having wet diapers, you're good. :)

If you really don't believe that your baby is getting enough, definitely go talk with a lactation specialist.

I don't think there's a way to tell unless you are pumping and putting a certain amount in a bottle. I always just breastfed on demand.
