How long was your hospital stay?

I'm a FTM and have never even stayed the night at a hospital and I'm trying to get prepared for my baby girl. Packing a hospital bag and not sure how much stuff to pack. Help!!

The docs usually want u there for 2 days with a vaginal birth. 3 days for a c section. Unless u have major complications yourself u won't stay more than 3 days. Hope this helps.

I had gestational diabetes and was induced so stayed 2 nights prior then 2 nights after i had my bab so they could monitor our blood sugars once we had 3 stable ones we were sent home 😀 hated staying there especially on the 4 bed bay and hoping not to stay longer then 1 night this time as will have my other baby at home!

Depending on the hospital rules. But here it's 2 days if it's vaginal delivery and 4 days for c-section. I would say pack for the things you need for 4 days just to be prepared. Bring a pillow for your husband in case he does need to stay 4 days.

2-3 is pretty average around here.  Both my kiddos were c-sections. With my son I had preeclampsia, so my stay was 4 days. With my daughter, I could have gone home on day 2. I chose to stay for a third because she was in NICU. If she was going home with me, I would've left on day 2.

My hospital allows 4 nights from bub being born so I took full advantage :) private hospital, my own room with ensuite, cable Tv, why not? Lol

The hospital must allow you at least 2 days even with no complications. I requested to leave next day with my second (I wanted to get home to my 1 year old son), but you have to ask for early discharge from your OB and pediatrician. It mostly depends on the pediatrician agreeing to discharge early.

Generally if you have a typical birth with no complications, baby has to stay for at least 36 hours maybe slightly longer if it's a boy and you opt for circumcision. Mom is all clear by 24 hours post partum but hospitals allow mom to stay until baby is released.

I stayed for a week because I had to have an emergency c section,my daughter had to go to special care and I also had an infection :(

I stayed for a week. I had gestational diabetes and was induced at 38 weeks and 5 days. I was unable to give birth until 3 days later. My baby was born with breathing issues and infection in his lungs. He stayed in nicu for 2 days and had to remain in the hospital for his antibiotics.
