Overactive letdown?

Anyone know they have overactive letdown? Wondering how you discovered it.

Choking and coughing, spraying milk out of my boobs, and a painful letdown. I pump with a manual pump before I nurse now until I feel the letdown and the spraying stops on its own. Block feeding also helps a lot where you only feed from one boob per feeding. The pumping I found has worked a lot because my supply is still high but baby isn't suffering from it anymore.

They say when you let down you may feel "tingling" When I let down I feel like I just got kicked in the chest with soccer cleats. After that my baby chokes and sputters and gags on the side she's nursing, the other side proceeds to spray about 6 inches away from my body with force soaking a washcloth.

He just seems to detach frequently during feeding but never seems to choke and I don't have any of the other signs. Just was trying to figure out if that was normal for him to stop and detach multiple times during feeding. He is 5 days old.

Painful let downs, tidal waves that erupts from my breasts, foremilk/hindmilk imbalance, fussy baby when at breast- choking, gasping, coughing, unlatching frequently, & constant leaking/spraying.

Block feeding has helped a lot. Letting the first letdown spray into a burp cloth until flow is a bit more manageable. As well as taking sudafed. However I'm under watch with my lactation consultant as it can dry up your milk supply if not careful.

He would choke/cough then detach and it will be going everywhere. If you do have an over letdown, feed leaning back on lying down so gravity is helping slow it down.
