When should I take a test?

I'm 7 days past my period. I needa know when I would get the brightest line if I'm pregnant? Please help me... I took a test yesterday and it was negative.

The previous comments are not really true. I've known people who did not get a positive until more than a week pass their period. It just depends on when you have ovulated and how your body is about producing the hormone.
