Highlighting Hair?

Hey guys, I do a partial highlight on my hair every 15 or so weeks and I'll be 7 weeks at my next appointment. Is anyone else doing highlights in the first trimester? My doc said it's fine but I'm scared! Paranoid mama status...

All of the research on hair dye says it's totally fine. You probably shouldn't be injecting it, but applying to your hair is totally safe ☺️

Just got mine highlighted last night and I am 8 weeks. The smell might be the only thing that bothers you. Other than that it's totally safe.

I was worried too, so I found an organic salon and let them know I am preggers. My (new) stylist is so great and uses the balayage method of highlighting the hair so it doesn't come in contact with my scalp; she also used Saran Wrap instead of foil (?) and wants me to come in every four weeks to space out the processing (I want to go liiiiight for the summer!!)

A girl at my salon has a couple kids and is super super cautious. She has done a ton of research into each product they use and any warnings about pregnancy. I told my stylist to only use what that girl used!

I will be getting my next round of highlights around 10 weeks. My doctor said its fine!

My sister got highlights while pregnant and the only concern she had was that it didn't take as well as normal. Said it looked flat due to the hormonal changes.

It's fine. I'm a hairstylist for a living and as long as you're not putting lightener directly on your scalp you're alright. Pregnant women are safe to use semi permanent color during pregnancy as well. Just be careful with permanent color as it has levels of ammonia in it as well as the developer having hydrogen peroxide.

I had highlights done with my last pregnancy 2 days before I found out I was pregnant

I dont think coloring my hair was the reason (could have been so many other things) but no color is touching my hair this entire pregnancy just in case lol currently 5 weeks 6 days with our rainbow babe :)

I'm so scared too. I got my hair done literally 3 hours before I found out I was pregnant but haven't done them since and that was over a month ago and am kind too nervous to do it. I even thought about waiting till my second trimester and then going back to my natural color just so I don't have to keep up with it
