This is my first post and decided to write about my unexpected delivery! I was honestly mentally and physically drained when i the 37week mark. I told myself I wasn't returning to work after leaving on Friday , boy was I right !. Saturday I decided to take my daughter for a walk in the hot AZ sun!. I started having a few inconsistent contractions but they were short lived. Sunday I joined a few friends for a birthday party at the pool. On the drive home I started feeling contractions starting up again. It started around 6pm . They were coming every 6-7mins lasting about 45 seconds to a minute. I figured it was just a false alarm. I tried to lay down and get some sleep around 10:30 and dosed off for about 30mins before waking up from the pain . I started to worry about waking my fiancé and my daughter for no reason . So I downloaded an app to track my contractions . I finally woke me finace up around 3am and said ok time to call your mom and let her know we will be bringing Gigi by. ( my family lives in NY) we got to the hospital around 4:45am when they checked I was at 4cm and 90% effaced but contractions were only every 5mins. They sent me to walk the hospital for an hour. We had fun taking a tour of the hospital and even walking up and down the garage stairs. After an hour there was no change in how close my contractions were. So the nurse said I may be sent home. About five mins later a different it's came in and said I would be admitted due to my blood pressure being high and small amounts of protien in my urine. It was game time ! I decided I would go as long as I could without pain meds. We spent about 5hrs in triage! Once I made it to labor and delivery , I was able to feel more comfortable and continue to labor on without any pain meds. I decided to give in and get IV lain medication to help me sleep a little . It worked for about an hour. I was checked and I was at 8cm but my contractions were starting to become less frequent . They wanted to start pitocin and I was scared I wouldn't be able to take much more pain without help. This was about 4pm on Monday and I'd made it pretty far and gave into the epidural , however it didn't work! About an hour passed and I was still feeling contractions and then just as my finace decided to leave and get food I felt a ton of pain and pressure and started to scream. The nurse came running in and checked me, baby was crowning !! ( left out a few details, by this time my two friends, and mother in law were by my side ) they broke the bed down , in walked my doc and they told me to start pushing . All I could think was..omg he is gonna miss his son being born! I yelled at his mom to run and get him and she did. ( sorry this is so long haha, I left out a few details but I don't mind answering questions later )
