Postpartum question.

First time mom here, I was wondering how long after giving birth can you start wearing tampons again? I hate wearing pads, I get rashes from them and they just feel gross. I'm 4 weeks pp & I was hoping when my period starts I could use tampons. I do still have stitches, I have not yet been to my pp appointment so I'm still a little scared to have sex or think about using tampons when my period starts. Anyone know how long you should wait? Thanks.
