Pill OR Rod?!

Question

Hey Girls! 
Was wanting to post this for some real life advice from other ladies...
which do people prefer: 
the contraceptive pill or the contraceptive rod?

I am wanting to begin birth control as my partner and I have discussed we would both feel more comfortable if I was also taking precaution.

Would really appreciate some advice and the pros and cons of both!!

I've been on both and personally prefer the pill. The progestin only in the rod doesn't go well with my body. Made me bleed the whole 8 months I had it in and I also gained a fair bit of weight. Whereas with the combined pill I have no side effects! It was lovely not to have to think about the rod, but I don't mind taking a pill every day!

I had the nexplanon and it was the worst decision I've ever made in my life. I bled the whole time I was on it. Not spotting. Bleeding. So I couldn't have sex anyway which defeated the purpose. Also I had like a mental breakdown. I was completely out of control of my emotions. I wouldn't get up off the couch at all unless I had to go to work. My then boyfriend could say something in the wrong tone of voice or look at me wrong and I'd sob hysterically for an hour. I called my doctor a few times and told me just to ride out the side effects till my body adjusted. Finally I had had enough and called the office to get it out and the lady said "we'll schedule you for sometime next week and you'll talk to your doctor and if you decide that taking it out is right for you then we'll schedule the procedure for the following week" and I flipped out crying telling her if she didn't get me in that day I'd chop it out myself with a steak knife. She got me in that day. I cried in the doctors office once because they took so long calling me back I missed my ride home and it was freezing rain. And again when the doctor came in the room to talk to me. All she did was come in and say "Nikki what's going on?" And I just started sobbing. Never again. I'm on the combination pill and I have no side effects. The other kind I've tried and loved was the patch. Didn't have to remember it but it wasn't imbedded in my body either.

The rod has way too many negative effects! You'll do better with the pill, the only thing you have to worry about is taking it at the same exact time everyday so it can be effective.
