What to do during time when baby is awake?

My 4 week old seems to be awake more and more now ( mostly during the day which is ok with me!!). I am just not sure what to do with him when he's awake. It seems like he just wants to be held. Any ideas how he can be entertained or soothed without having to be held the whole time ?

My daughter is 5 weeks and awake more during the day. While she is awake I spend time with her.  I usually lay her on the floor for tummy time, makw funny faces at her, talk to her, show her stuff... hold her. I don't attempt to clean or anything like that while she is awake. Usually after she's been awake for a few hours I'll change, feed and swaddle her and rock her to sleep. The times she is awake it time I cherish so much. Housework can wait and anything else I feel NEEDS to be done... well it usually isn't as important as the time with my little girl is. They are only small for a short time. Take the time that you can't get anything done and use it to your advantage to just relax also😃

There's an app called BabySparks I saw advertised on fb and downloaded. There's a free version, or you can pay to get more. I bought it because it was so awesome!!! It gives you daily activities to do with baby based on developmental milestones and to help baby progress with things like head control and motor skills. Try it out!

I let my 6 week old spend some time in her bouncer seat (at least 10 mins), her playmat (at least 10 mins), tummy time (5 to 10 mins), and I also read books to her. I rotate these activities while she's awake and I also give my husband and son (13) time to play with and talk to her.  You can also take walks outside with her in the stroller on nice days. My son is 6 weeks and I wear him in a wrap, he loves it! Or put him in a swing, he likes looking up at the mobile spinning. Sometimes I sit him in a nursing pillow and put music on and sit beside him or in front of him smiling and talking to him.

Have you tried a wrap so you can wear him? My baby isn't here yet but I watch my 7 week old neice often and she likes to be held also.  When I have stuff I really need to get done I just hope the momaroo keeps her entertained for a bit lol.

Mines 6 wks and I love when he's awake, I take him around the house to show him things, take him outside, push him in the pram, do tummy time, have a bath, baby massage, on my lap for a 'chat' put him in his rocker n he watches Mickey Mouse n kicks his legs n coos and smiles 😊

I put mine in the K'tan or Ergo and he is happy as a clam. It frees up my hands to do things.

We baby wear a lot. And just got a swing which she seems to like.

My baby has an activity mat he loves. It has having toys and I interact with him with regular toys and high contrast flash cards.
