No schedule yet, how and when did you?

4 weeks pp and I'm feeding on demand and have no schedule in place for lo. He goes about 2-3 hours between feedings during the day and 3-4 at night. I play when he's awake and he sleeps whenever and wherever. I'd like to get on a schedule eventually but have no clue how or when I should try?

I kinda started a schedule just because my baby has the hardest time falling asleep on her own and she was getting overtired. Instead of a set schedule in terms of time it's more like a routine. I feed her when she wakes up in the morning or from a nap, then we play until she gets fussy or an hour goes by. Then I swaddle her, turn on the white noise, rock her for a little bit and then put her in her swing where she falls asleep on her own. The it's just lather rinse repeat all day until bedtime lol. I have started taking her for a long walk before her evening nap to keep her up a little longer so her nap is right before bedtime. She sleeps longer if she naps right before bed instead of being up for some reason. I give her a bath before her evening nap too so when she wakes up from it I just feed her, change her, wrap her up and put her to bed. Definitely not sleeping through the night but she used to wake up ever two hours and lately she's been seeping for 3 to 4 hours at a time. Hopefully I'm not jinxing myself by mentioning that lol

I'm not big on schedules until after 3 months when they gain the capability of habit forming.

I have had my 6 week old on a schedule from about 2-3 weeks. I woke and kept him up rather he liked it or not and slowly he was able to stay awake longer. I did that at 8am and again at 7pm. So that he had a good strewing the morning and come 7pm I would keep him awake until 8:30 so that he could then feed and sleep through the night. He is naturally on the schedule now he will wake normal from 3-4am just for a 5oz bottle and be right back to sleep until I have to wake him at 6:30am to take my older children to school. Just know when you are ready to implement a schedule it can happen no matter the age, and they are going to fuss as they arnt used to it. With persistence and determination you can be sleeping through the night like me too, good luck!

I've heard different things about when to start a schedule with them. I'm almost 6 weeks pp. I'm doing the exact same thing with on demand feeding. I'm soooo ready for a schedule!

Your shedule sounds exactly like mine and I'm 7pp. This week my little one has gone 3-4hrs between feedings, so it's nice . I've just been feeding on demand for her :)... The only thing we have on schedule is her bed time , we have a little routine and she is asleep around 9ish.
