It can happen, but it's very uncommon.

When I see posts where people have lost their baby in the second tri, it's shocking and upsetting, but it has to be considered there is almost always more to the story. Maybe baby was measuring behind. Maybe there was an undiagnosed condition or even a diagnosed one that the poster chose not to mention. Maybe the person had a uterine malformation that made pregnancy risky. Or even their pregnancy was risky for another reason the reader was not given privy to.

Statistically your chances of miscarriage in the second tri are less than 1%. If you're healthy and you're having a "text book" pregnancy, I think that's all good enough indications to try to worry less - it's exceptionally high you're going to go on to have a healthy pregnancy and baby.

I just saw someone post they lost their baby unexpectedly at 13wks. The day before it happened I guess the heartbeat was very strong and baby looked good and the next day just gone 😢
