Won't administer TDaP vaccine in Canada?

Paige • 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦

I had asked my midwife about getting the booster for the third trimester since it's recommended and after looking into it, I had decided I wanted it. She referred me to the public health unit since she doesn't do it there. I just got off the phone with them, and they said that I had it 8 years ago, and they don't do it routinely in adults, even pregnant women. I guess that the only way I could get it was if I was directly exposed to someone with the disease.

Does this sound right? Anyone in Canada (B.C) have any advice on how they were able to get theirs? I see on facebook forums in my community that it's all over the town I live in, (although I haven't personally known anyone who's children have contracted it) and I'd rather give baby the best chance I can.
