Having sex to dilate?

I'm 38w2d and I had a doctors appointment today, well he did an exam and I'm completely CLOSED. No dilation whatsoever. He wants me to be dilated by my next appointment on the 9th. He told me and my SO that it helps to have sex. Is this true? Does sex really help?

I heard many woman go into labor without being dilated at all.

I got checked at 39 weeks and 2 days and I'm still completely closed and we've been having sex damn near every day for a month.

What helps the most I've heard is nipple stimulation though... Just not too much or it'll cause really hard contractions.

They say it does but this is what I feel. Your body knows when it's ready. And when it is it will do its thing.

It does help.. The prostaglandin in the semen helps soften the cervix and helps you dilate.  He has to ejaculate in you and the semen has to stay in there for it to work. Many times if you move or get up right away it'll come out. It's like trying to conceive all over again except trying to evict the baby you have to let the sperm do its magic lol. Gotta keep the semen in there somehow.

Yes! The semen has oxytocin in it to help soften the cervix. I had to stop sex completely at 30 weeks because I had been dilating! I could've started preterm labor D:

I read that the semen helps soften your cervix but I personally haven't try it since I've been so uncomfortable down there lol

No it hasn't helped for me
