How many of you trust the pill to do its job?

Question

The pill is meant to be 99% effective yet so many girls are still using back up protection. I wanna know how many of you rely solely on your pill for protection.  If you use another method as well, why is that? Just curious. Thanks for participating. :)

As I'm neither sexually active nor taking birth control I can't answer the poll, but as the daughter of a nurse I know for medicines to be effective you should take them at about the same time everyday so they are constant in you blood stream. That said if remembering to take medicine isn't your strong suit you should have a back up plan. Also if you are having sex with someone you don't know well you should use a condom, they don't just protect from pregnancy they also protect from STDs.

Before I stopped taking my birth control so I can try to get pregnant again I never used extra protection with my fiancé. Never even had a pregnancy scare

Because even with the pill pregnancies still occur. It does prevent a lot of pregnancies but that slight risk is still there, so it's good to have other precautions too like a condom :) but even so the pill is still effective & the chance of pregnancy is definitely lessened :)

I don't trust the pill, but I trust the IUD.

Even then I don't let my BF cum in me. Just because I don't like the clean up of that lol, and he doesn't mind.

It's always great to have two methods of protections, regardless. I have my pill at the same time everyday to make sure that I am protected to the tenth degree, like I'm supposed to be when I use it. But also, you can never be too protected! Especially when your goal is to not get pregnant because it's not the right time. I will always use condoms and be on my respective method of birth control because you have double protection from pregnancy and also protection from STI's & STD's. If you rely solely on you taking the pill to be protected, then you need to make sure you're doing it at the EXACT same time, everyday! I've heard of too many women getting pregnant on the pill.

To me, just using condoms for protection is SCARY AS HELL! Condom only give you >90% protection when used correctly. What is their definition of correctly? When anyone rolls on a condom, they have it in their mind that they are being protected. Just using condoms as your form of bc seems risky because a lot of things can go wrong. Unless a person is taking the condoms out of the box, checking the expiration date, checking for air bubbles, carefully unwrapping it, holding the tip if the condom with your middle and pointer finger so it looks like a sombrero, and then proceeding to roll the condom down the shaft of the penis EVERY SINGLE TIME, there's room for error.

There's always room for error, so for me personally, I will always take my pill and use condoms correctly as my methods of birth control. At least you know that you're using protect that way it was meant to be used.

I used the pill with no additional birth control for a year and didn't get pregnant, so I would say it's effective. It works best if you take it at exactly the same time every day and don't miss a dose.

I was on the pill for about 9 years before we were ttc #1&2. Always took it regularly and never forgot one, never had any issues. Now have the mirena and can't wait for it to be removed!

i was on the pill for a year and he came in me probably 3 times a week and I never even had a scare. getting pregnant on the pill usually happens when there's an error by the person using the birth control, so if you take it very well I wouldn't worry about using a second thing.
