Metronidazole vaginal gel

I am on this for the next few days to treat a bacterial infection. The pharmacist said I should not drink but never mentioned anything about sex. I looked it up and it says I shouldn't have sex while using this medication. I just want to know if it actually matters so I can plan accordingly lol
