New Job? What would you do?

I've been at my waitressing job since I was 16 I'm now 22. There are no benefits, tips are ok sometimes but rarely, my bosses play favorite (they don't like me), they can be rude, the don't care if your going through a hard time (unless they like you). I'm scared about getting a new job since this was my first one what would you do?

You've got a lot of experience under your belt and staying with the same job for so long only shows you have loyalty, which looks good on an application or resu'me (phone's not letting me spell it right). Anyways, don't leave until you've secured yourself another job elsewhere, and definitely don't let on that you're leaving or you could get fired. There's lots of customer service jobs out there- I work in a bookstore/retail store and it's pretty calm. No tips though haha.

Thank you all for the boost of confidence I needed. I put in an application for another (non waitressing) job and have an interview set for Monday at 3:30( I just put in the app last night!) I'm still nervous but this is much needed. I've been so stressed at my current job I fear that's the reason we've had trouble conceiving. Prayers that this is a better less stressful job!!

Line up a new job before you quit, otherwise you'll end up jobless and searching. But I think it's worth giving something else a shot, maybe you'll like it more.

Definitely go for it. You've got company loyalty staying at one gig for 4 years. These days when I recruit I consider any staff staying at previous jobs for 2 years to be a sign they're a good long term bet. Can't ask for much more than this in this climate. Good on you!
